About the core members
Britt Jurgensen was born in Hamburg, Germany. She trained at the Hope Street Physical Theatre Programme and Kiklos Teatro International School of Theatre Creation in Padua, Italy. Since then, Britt has been performing original work at theatres and festivals in Italy, France, Switzerland and the UK. In addition to co-founding Fool's Proof Theatre, Britt has founded and led the puppet theatre project Capricho, and led youth theatre projects in India and Bosnia for Rise Phoenix Theatre. Britt has recently been at the Dell'Arte School of Physical Theatre in Blue Lake, CA, where she was an assistant teacher and mask-maker for the summer commedia dell'arte intensive with Giovanni Fusetti. In the last 10 years she has lived in 7 different countries and has left behind at least one box in each of them.
Mary Pearson was born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. She did her theatre training at Kiklos Teatro International School of Theatre Creation in Padua, Italy. Since then, Mary has co-founded Fool's Proof Theatre, and has been performing in theatres and festivals all over Europe. While in the USA, she earned a B.A. in English Literature and Studio Art from Oberlin College, and then spent years performing improvised theatre with the Brody Theater in Portland, Oregon. She has also studied and performed classical and modern dance, and attended numerous dance festivals in Europe and the US. She is now working intensively with Contact Improvisation and Action Theatre, and facilitates her own improvisation groups. Mary has performed in Spanish, French, Italian, German and Swiss-German and wishes she had a fat orange cat.
Ben Phillips was born in London, England. He trained at Ecole Philippe Gaulier in London, and the Hope Street Physical Theatre Programme in Liverpool. Since then, Ben has worked with companies such as ParaActive, Periplum, Tall Stories, Tour de Force and Theatre sans Frontieres, as well as devising and performing with Fool's Proof Theatre. He has toured in England, Ireland, Germany, France, the Czech Republic, Sweden, Holland, Switzerland, and Shanghai. Ben had completed his studies in French and Spanish, and spent several years living abroad before he discovered his love for theatre while lost in the mountains of Peru. Ben is nearly 2m tall and is incorrigible in a cravat.
